Female Body Language

Men often complain that they don’t understand women. They may have difficulty interpreting how females think or talk.

Unfortunately, men can’t just wave a magic wand or swallow a magic pill that will allow them to completely understand women.

If we did invent such a thing, we would be off relaxing on our own private beach with a glass of Dom Perignon in our hand…

However, help is on the way for you men out there!

In the preceding paragraphs, you will learn how to recognize some of the common traits of female body language. This will help males to better understand members of the opposite sex.

Women’s body language tends to be more submissive.

Women tend to make lighter, more flexible arm movements than men. This is a subconscious way for them to say “I’m safe to approach” or “I won’t resist you.”

Female body language is often meant to make women appear small and take up less space.

A woman will often curl up and tuck her limbs in. She may tuck her feet under a chair or place her hands beneath a table.

Females also tend to bend when another person is speaking.

She may also fold her arms over her chest or even place a book or purse in her lap.

These are all subconscious ways for her to attempt to hide parts of her body. She probably won’t realize she is even making these gestures.

But men will probably notice!

Men need to realize that these gestures don’t necessarily mean the woman isn’t interested.

Unless, of course, the book in her lap contains handwritten love notes from her fiancée!

Women usually display much more warmth and emotion in their faces. They may even use exaggerated facial gestures.

Have you ever watched a woman who is truly excited about something?

You will probably notice that her entire face lights up. Her eyes tend to twinkle, tiny creases form at the side of her eyes and her cheeks rise.

Female body language includes using facial expressions to convey much more emotion.

A woman may get very excited at the sight of a cute animal, bargain dress or new flavor of ice cream. In fact, they may get more excited about any of these things than a man will about winning the lottery!

In other words, they get excited more easily than men and aren’t afraid to show it!

Women tend to avoid direct confrontation.

Many women have a fear of confrontation. During an argument, they may look away during the conversation.

They will also tend to stand further back than a man, instead of taking a step forward. They don’t usually try to appear as threatening as men.

Of course, the women in the reality series “Survivor” are an exception to this rule!

Women tend to fidget less and remain still than men.

Remember your elementary school teachers? I’m sure you often heard them telling the unruly boys in the class to “Sit up and pay attention!”

Did you hear your teacher tell the girls to pay attention very often? Probably not.

Do you know why?

Because most women find it much easier to concentrate and focus than men. As a result, they will often stay relatively still during an entire conversation.

They won’t fidget with their hands or small objects nearly as often as men.

Men, try to practice observing women more often.

This should be an assignment that most of you won’t complain about!

Watch for any of the following typical signs of female body language:

• Submissive body gestures
• Animated facial expressions
• Tends to avoid direct confrontation
• Fidgets less and focuses more than men

Identifying these traits may improve men’s ability to communicate with the opposite sex.

Males need all the help they can get in this department.

So pay close attention to the body gestures women make, also especially how women flirt. You may learn much more than what you thought you knew!
