Recipe For A Happy Marriage

Just like baking a cake, the recipe for a happy marriage can be changed again and again, but the key ingredients always stay the same. Without the key ingredients to make a cake, such as flour and eggs, the cake might fall. Find out the key ingredients that your marriage needs to stay upright and let’s face it – be delicious. You don’t, however, have to be a chef to learn what makes a good marriage.

1. Don’t pass judgment.

As your partner’s spouse, you have every right to form an opinion about any situation, action or the like. Sometimes, however, it’s best to keep your opinions to yourself. It’s important in a marriage not to pass judgment on your spouse – instead, offer support.

It’s your job to offer love, guidance and encouragement. If there’s a situation that arises that you don’t approve of, or if your partner makes a mistake, don’t criticize. Passing judgment now means reaping resentment later and that never goes well. Just be compassionate and help them to make a better decision next time.

2. Make time for each other.

Sounds easier that it is, doesn’t it? But making time for your spouse and spending it with them is one of the most important ingredients in the recipe for a happy marriage.

You don’t have to go out on special, expensive dates together (although those are sometimes nice), but you do have to do things that you both enjoy for some quality one-on-one time together. Make dinner together or rent a movie and watch it at home. Walk the dog, or go grocery shopping together.

Doing things together, even if it’s just routine household chores and the daily grind, will help strengthen your marriage. And one more thing – if your spouse asks to spend time with you, don’t say, “I don’t have time right now.” Make the time.

3. Give a little romance.

Not flowers or candy, although sometimes that’s not a bad idea, especially if you’ve just done something stupid. I mean little things that say, “I love you. I care about you. You mean something to me.”

Make coffee in the morning. Pick up the dry cleaning. Rub your spouse’s feet if they’ve had a tough day on the job. Do anything that’s fairly selfless to let your partner know you’re there for them. There are tons of different tips for bringing romance back to marriage though, so don’t stop trying until you’ve found a few that work for you.

The recipe for a happy marriage can seem daunting and perhaps even difficult to accomplish – but like with baking a cake, it’s going to get a little messy.

If you put in the effort and stick to the ingredients list, your cake – and your marriage – will most likely turn out just fine. Don’t stop here though – there’s always new things you can incorporate into your marriage to develop a happier and more successful relationship.

The buck doesn’t stop there though – there are many more secrets to a happy marriage that you will want to know though.
